Friday Afternoon Food For Thought: Perception

 

There is a part of your mind when used wisely transforms any given situation.   It works unmonitored or you can make it work for you.  

Here's a great exercise I use with my top end clients. It requires you to use consciously, this part of your mind to generate better outcomes both professionally and personally.

When you do the following exercise, I think you wil be really pleased that you did.  Why...well you be the judge!  

Altering your perception/perspective 

You have the power to alter your perception.  Consciously doing this means you start to affect a situation as opposed to being effected by it.  You get to decide how you see and respond to any circumstances.   

This is fun and widely enriching. Just complete and do the following and, in just a few minutes time, you are going to have a better perception of a specific area that needs it.  

Write down: 

  • 5  things you are grateful for
  • 5  things you can see with your eyes, within about 5 meters, you are grateful for (different answers from above)
  • 5  things you are looking forward to or could look forward to
  • 5 great business/ professional moments
  • 5 things you enjoy about being you
  • 3 things that make you laugh

Emotions - What are 3 great emotions that make you feel alive?  Write them down. Here’s a few to get you moving…Love, joy, excitement, expectation, confidence, blessed, happy, peace, harmony, dynamic, affection, blissful, calm, determined, enlightened, hopeful, glad, passionate, optimistic, spirited, reliable, thankful, worthy, grateful, faith, etc.

Physiology - how would you use your body to show that you are full of these great emotions? Right now, move your body to show this emotional state.  Are you sitting, standing, moving?  Notice how you are breathing is it, deep or swallow? Are you smiling or frowning? 

What words would you use to tell people how good you are feeling?  Hold this change of feeling, physiology, and attitude. It okay to feel this great!. 

Improvement 

What is something that needs putting into perspective? Maybe in your work, health, relationships or with how you use your time. 

This is what I need a better perspective/perception on, answer:

Remember to keep generating and enjoying your new feelings, attitude, state of mind and a body that has moved to reflect how good you feel.  When you do your perspective and perception always changes for the better. 

Think about how has it changed?  What feelings, ideas, thoughts, etc…are you experiencing? 

If you need to take action to improve this situation what 3 things could you do in the next 24 hours or less to do so.
