Transforming Incoherence to Coherence to Immediately Change Your Life
Transforming Incoherence to Coherence
In today's world, filled with uncertainty and chaos, I'm advocating for more than just reacting to external turmoil. It's about fundamentally changing ourselvesâoptimising who we are by transforming how we think, feel, and act. This inner transformation allows us to overcome limitations and evolve from within. When our thoughts, emotions, and actions are driven by external factors, we lose the ability to truly optimise ourselves and, consequently, the situations we encounter.
Mastery of Response
Mastery of this is how quickly we can stop our reaction. We donât want to live in a place of being a victimâblaming others, worrying, doubting, stressing, hating, being anxious, and fearfulâany longer than we need to. We must be aware of these states and know they are feeding us information to guide and motivate us to change. They are directing us to do so. They are not to distort and drive our behaviour. This happens when we donât know how to consciously change, or we are not aware of negative patterns we are frequently running.
Catch the Patterns
One way to do this is to meditate. Meditate means to become familiar. (This can be formal, a quiet session or informal by being aware of our state). We become conscious of thoughts, feelings and actions that are not serving us wisely. We need to catch ourselves running these patterns so we can address and overcome them.
Define Your Change
Think of something that you want to change. Write it down below:
Example: You find yourself being upset, there is a person that is the cause of this in your mind, even when they are physically out of sight youâre having feelings that really donât make you feel good.
I want to changeâŚ(write down or think clearly about what you want to change)Â
Run the Pattern
This pattern runs through your mind, and you may realise that these emotions are not just limited to that person. Other people, situations, or circumstances can bring about the same limiting emotions that run in your body. You may also notice information to support these emotions comes to light and justifies this pattern to further validate it. Your thoughts, feelings and what you want to do are fuel to keep this limiting pattern running.
Understanding the Problem
When we are living by the emotions of stress, anxiety, fear, survival, hating, aggression, etc., our brain wave patterns are in beta wave. This produces incoherence. We are sub-optimal and make poor choices.*
Incoherence affects our1:
- Ability to think clearly
- Memory
- Learning
- Reasoning
- Effective decision-making
Embracing Change
What is coherence?
Coherence is where the heart, mind, and emotions are working harmoniously.2
Insight into Coherence
Many people are not aware that the heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart!3 Let me repeat that: The heart sends more signals to the brain than the other way around. The heart plays a prime role in moving into, sustaining, and developing new baselines of coherence.
Benefits of Coherence
The team at HeartMath found that when we shift the rhythm of the heart to the brain, sustained positive emotions can lead us into a state of coherence4. When we do, there are many benefits:
- Promotes optimal health and performance
- Reinforces positive feelings
- Greater emotional stability
- Increases mental clarity
- Enables more effective decisions
- Creates a state of optimal function
- Enhances creativity
From Chaos to Coherence: The Journey to Harmony
The research team at HeartMath has documented a remarkable physiological transformation in an individual who consciously shifted their focus to the heart. This person moved from a state of incoherence and disharmony to one of synchronicity and coherence, showcasing the power of aligning heart and mind. For those interested, you can explore the details of this transformation and view the documented evidence through HeartMathâs resources
When we change so does our life. Letâs experience how we can do this.
Applying: The Optimisation Exercise
Staying with the example of finding yourself being upset towards someone, even when they might be out of sight:
Optimisation Exercise:
- Run the upset example in your mind, or a recurring limiting pattern you have and experience it. See what you see, feel what you feel, and hear what you hear about this limiting state of incoherence.
- Put your hand on your heart.Â
- Feel the emotion of gratitude from within your heart and let the elevated emotion blossom from within. (You are not thinking about itâyou are to feel it from the heart. Your thoughts are not your feelings.) Gratitude is how we feel when we have overcome this problem. It spontaneously rises from the heart.Â
- Feel the emotion of love. It must be from the heart. Allow this to flourish from within.Â
- Feel how you would feel having overcome this problem. Livingness abounds from within. Let that feeling arise unrestricted.Â
- Now, run the upset example, or the one you choose again, this time feeling gratitude, love, and livingness. Really feel these emotions. When you do, youâve changed, and so has your experience towards the situation.Â
- Now, whatâs a little action you can take to improve your circumstances? Maybe it is to go through this simple approach anytime the same or similar situation arises. Or does something else come to mind. Whatever it is act upon it.
Itâs a step towards mastery. It is a worthwhile practice and use of time. Remember the benefits of moving into a state of coherence. At times it can seem difficult but over time, with practice, we, think, feel and act to optimise ourselves and our response. Itâs a great way to express our best.
Learned Experience:Â
You will probably find yourself careless about the problem because your energy has been freed up for you to be creative. Solutions follow, and new options, opportunities and choices flow from hereâŚitâs like it doesnât matter anymore or at least the level that was distorting and driving poor choices and behaviour has been significantly reduced so we can move on to do some good elsewhere.Â
3 Day Challenge: Repeat for Lasting Change
Repeat this exercise three times a day for 15 minutes over 3 days.
Two Additional Practices.
Here are two additional practices. You can use one or both as often as you like. In my experience, they truly become âMoreish.â The more you use them and learn about how to elevate your state the more valuable they become.
Additional Practice (1) Do heartfelt emotions.Â
Pick 2 or 3 emotions such as appreciation, care, gratitude, happiness, kindness, joy, love, etc. Focus on one at a time. Spend 15 minutes 3 times per day for the next three days enjoying these elevated emotions and positive change is yours.
Learned Experience:Â
New ideas and elevated emotional states become part of your day and when you notice this, they act as feedback that youâve changed and you experience life differently. When you are different so is your life.Â
Research shows immunoglobulin A (IgA) production goes up 49.5 % because the body believes it's living in a nurturing way and cortisol goes down by 16.25% at the same time.5Â
âIgA is better than any other immune system boost and when we have sustained elevated emotions, cortisol levels go down. We up-regulate the proteins of our immune system and down-regulate the secretion of cortisol. Stress hormones go down and we make new healthy proteins7.â Dr. Joe Dispenza.
Additional Practice (2) Clearly defined heartfelt desire.Â
Do the Optimisation Exercise above with your clearly defined heartfelt desire - your Prime Aspirations8.  Your experience will go off the scale .  Go here to learn how to define your heartfelt desires.
Do heartfelt emotions, those that you would feel having achieved, completed or accomplished your heartfelt desire, your Prime Aspiration.Â
E.G. Love, appreciation, care, gratitude, kindness, fulfilment, joy, happiness, whatever it is for you. đ
Do this for 15 minutes 3 times per day for the next three days and significant change is yours. Just experience one heartfelt emotion at a time and then move on to the next one. You can go through the cycle as many times as you like.
Learned Experience:Â
Once you feel like you can get into the different feelings in your heart, swap from one to another as frequently as you like. Itâs fun. It provides a real boost.Â
Watch opportunities start to show up and use this as feedback that change is happening for you.
After each Optimisation Exercise, what is a little action you can take to improve your circumstancesâŚtake it. Â
Be aware, that moving into elevated emotional states and shifting the rhythm of the heart sends different neural messages to the brain for free.Â
